Living in a house bathed in Mediterranean light; this was one of the main reasons that motivated Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles to build the Villa. The architectural object itself lives by the specific light that illuminates it. Walls, recesses, overhanging roofs, and cantilevered terraces that, meeting with the sun of the Hyères hill, generate volumes of shadow in constant evolution. Protected, intimate spaces animate the building and tell of the unrepeatable bond between an architectural object and the place where it was built. Encounters of shadows make tangible the Villa’s ability to scan and give presence to the passing of time as if this were a great, inhabitable hourglass.
The two objects reproduce on a 1:5 scale the invisible volume of shadow generated by the sun visor of the guest terrace on June 21 at 2:30 pm.
