After the research travel to Japan observing the appropriation of Japanese common spaces, and upon returning to Switzerland, a second exhibition reflecting on the experiences in Japan was held at MILK space in Zurich. The creative space MILK serves as a workspace for several architecture offices during the day and often transforms into a cultural venue by night and on weekends. Its ground-floor location once again facilitated informal interactions, inviting both passersby and visitors to engage with the displayed works.
The exhibition in Zurich offered a meaningful opportunity for exchange with the local art and architecture community in a familiar setting. The gestures of appropriation observed in Japan, as depicted in the displayed drawings, prompted reflections on Zurich’s everyday urban landscape, including efforts to interpret the Swiss approach to engaging with and navigating public spaces. This provided fresh insights into how people experience shared spaces across different cultures.
